I'm working hard to finish up all of the 2013 weddings before the holiday break. Since they'll be tons of wedding photos for you to see soon, I thought we might take a break and see some family photos. This beautiful family is our friends Kelsie, Doug and their son Reed. Oops! Almost forgot Sophie, their sweet kitty, who isn't exactly thrilled to be a big sister.
Here are a few photos from a mini-shoot I did at their home a few weeks back. We tried our best to time our shoot during Reed's sleepy time, which mostly worked out. Though, I must admit to loving the scrunchy faces of babies when they're waking up.
In 2009 Jen & Jeff put their trust in me when they chose me to photograph their wedding. I had been in business for a few years, but hadn't photographed many weddings at that point. We met up for a glass of wine, chatted a bit – and that one evening has brought about so much change in my life and career.
From that one chance meeting I have been given the opportunity to photograph some wonderful couples – Tara & Josh, Sarah & Patrick, and Kate & Sean too. And...this is an added edit after originally published...Cassandra & Lenny as well! All of their weddings have had an effect on how I view what I do. Photographs are so much more than capturing a moment – they bring you back in time and can give you comfort. They remind you of who you were - and, in a way, allow you to move forward with who you are now - knowing that you can always look back.
Jen's friend remembered me when Jen's baby shower was coming up, and she purchased them a photo session as her shower gift (one of the best gift ideas, in my opinion). We got together this summer at Castle Island, which is the same spot we photographed their engagement photos three years earlier. This time the attention was on Charlotte, for sure. She has quite the personality - and I loved attempting to catch all the facial expressions she made.
When I knew we were returning to the place where we shot their engagement photos, and on a sunny day no-less, I had this photo in mind as I drove to meet them. I very much wanted to add Charlotte into this loving embrace.
In a few weeks I'm set to photograph one of my 2010 couples and their newborn baby. I'm so lucky to have couples that want me to be there to document their growing families. Thank you. Truly.
Carolina & Andrej are expecting thier first child in the next few weeks. Before the little one comes around they wanted to have some photographs to remember this time in their lives by - the moment before quite a bit changes.
Peter & I enjoyed getting to know them as we walked around the city. One of the many awesome talents that their child will have is the ability to speak three languages from the start. Carolina speaks Portuguese and Andrej speaks Slovenian, and they both speak English. Their child is already pretty lucky, I'd say. Not to mention inheriting their good looks too.
